All programs are on Monday, beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m., with the exception of the October meeting, which is on a Friday. There is no meeting in April, due to Holy Week and Easter services

September 12
Kristin Lensch, organist
St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Franklin

Our season opens with a "chapter-swap" concert by Kristin Lensch of the Memphis Chapter. (Dean-Elect Jon Johnson performed in Memphis in April.) Ms. Lensch is Organist- Choirmaster at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles, and also a D.M.A. candidate at the University of Memphis. She will perform on the recently moved (2009) and refurbished Aeolian- Skinner, Op. 1511, from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Snow and ice hampered attendance at the dedicatory recital by Olivier Latry in 2010, but the weather's looking good for September.

 

 

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14
Carol Williams, organist
Christ Church Cathedral

Acclaimed international artist Carol Williams will put the Lively-Fulcher through its paces in her typical high-energy, audience-pleasing style.
Note: This program is on a Friday evening.

 

 

November 7
Belmont University Chorale
St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church

The Belmont University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Jeffery Ames, is well-known for its PBS performances, Christmas at Belmont. Returning from their 2011 tour to Italy, the choir will bring a rich and varied program to our chapter.

2012 Convention Update & Celebration
Belmont United Methodist Church

As we enter the home stretch in preparation for AGO 2012, Ken Stein and Bill Gray will bring the chapter up to date on all the latest convention news, as we celebrate the season with festive holiday music.

 

 

January 9
Organ Plus . . .
Downtown Presbyterian Church

This program, which was snowed out in 2011, has been brought back due to the enthusiasm of the many guest instrumentalists and vocalists scheduled to perform. Forecast for January 9: clear skies!

Light Looked Down
a choral service of evening prayer
West End United Methodist Church

The Chancel Choir of West End will give a preview of one of the services that will be presented at July's convention, including a commissioned work from Eleanor Daley.

 

 

March 5
Welch-Hancock Duo
Brentwood United Methodist Church

Teaming up on the 71-rank Möller organ and the 9½-foot Bösendorfer piano, the California-based Welch- Hancock Duo will present a varied program of traditional classics, as well as popular transcriptions.

A
Celebration of Psalms
Westminster Presbyterian Church

A preview of the National Convention service that will feature a variety of psalm settings for choir, instruments, and organ. The Westminster Presbyterian Choir will premier a new psalm setting commissioned from David Conte.

 

Interest from the Nashville AGO endowment account is used, in part, to help support these programs.
